Terms of use

This page is written in plain English. It is not legal advice. It is a plain description of what you can expect from BaziTrace and what we expect from you.

Short version. BaziTrace is provided as-is, for learning about Bazi vocabulary. It is not medical, legal, or financial advice. You are responsible for how you use it. We do our best to be honest about what the engine does and does not do.

What BaziTrace is

  • A free, mobile-first web tool that produces a four-pillar (Bazi) chart from a Gregorian date and a local time.
  • A reading aid, in English, for people who are new to Bazi.
  • An open calculation: the engine is published and reproducible.

What BaziTrace is not

  • Not medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice.
  • Not legal advice.
  • Not financial, investment, or tax advice.
  • Not a forecast of any event, outcome, or relationship.
  • Not a personality classification or psychometric test.
  • Not a substitute for a qualified practitioner of any kind.

The optional AI explanation

After a chart has been calculated, you may click Explain my chart with AI to request a short English interpretation generated by a third-party language-model provider. The interpretation is educational and reflective; it does not diagnose, predict, guarantee, or prescribe. The model is explicitly instructed not to recompute the chart, not to make medical, legal, or financial claims, and not to present the chart as a determination of fate. The deterministic chart on this page is always the source of truth — the AI text is an optional, human-readable summary that the model is told may not replace the chart.

Calculation scope

  • The four pillars, day master, element tally, and boundary notes are produced by a documented calculation. The same inputs produce the same outputs.
  • Birth city, longitude, historical time zones, daylight saving, and true solar time are not applied. See the Methodology page.
  • The chart is not presented as accurate in an absolute sense. Different practitioners and different engines can produce different charts at the boundaries, and the engine is honest about the conventions it uses.
  • The chart should not be used to make a real-world decision about your health, money, relationships, or career.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for how you use the chart. Please do not use it to make decisions that need a professional. If you do, that is on you, not on us. We have written the warnings; we cannot force you to read them.

Our responsibilities

  • To keep the methodology page up to date with the engine's actual rules.
  • To describe material calculation boundaries in plain language.
  • To not silently change the calculation without updating the methodology page.
  • To not collect data we have not told you about.

Intellectual property

The site text, the methodology descriptions, and the layout are released under a permissive license. The Chinese characters themselves are part of the public domain and not our property. Engine source is in the project repository.
